A Party Leader is there to lead.
I was a founder member of UKIP and I have campaigned tirelessly for the Party ever since. Never once have I walked away and I have loyally supported every Leader.
Leading a Party is quite different from managing it. I have no intention of acting as a managing director, forever buried in meetings and paperwork. My role will be that of political leader. I shall concentrate on what I am good at and leave everything else to others.
UKIP needs a new structure, and I shall be proposing the appointment of a Party Chairman, with the powers of a Chief Executive, who will run the Party and be held to account by the NEC.
My other appointments will really radically professionalise our Party and leave the rest of us more time for our essential purpose: Fighting elections.
